The importance of spending time with your friends
Life seems to get busier and busier while we grow up. That is partly true (work, commuting, dealing with house stuff, kids…) and partly is the result of our prioritising (hit the yoga class instead of seeing a friend, canceling a dinner because we are ‘too tired to go out’…).
I’ve always been really attached to my friends, friendship being one of the things I care about the most; nevertheless, I’ve been in a relationship for years and I have to admit it had been quite a while since I’d taken real vacations with my friends.
Don’t get me wrong, I love travelling with my companion – just the two of us or with some friends – nevertheless some recent trips made me realize how important it is to create the occasions to spendi some good, quality time with my friends and family.
And I am not talking about a 3 hours lunch or a happy hours that prolongs into dinner, I am talking about a real vacation, a weekend or even just a whole day.
The everlasting conversations, the jokes and the giggling about stupid things, passing from crying to laughing and from talking politics to gossip on Henry and Meghan… I am starting to really feel the preciousness of all the memories we can build up just by switching off our phones, clearing up our schedules (everything looks impossible until it’s done) and giving our full attention to the people around us.
Love is one of the most important things in life, and quality time one of the most precious gifts.
